Gracilis (Bambusa textilis Gracilis)
One of Australia' s top selling bamboo varieties, Gracilis (Bambusa textilis Gracilis), also known as Slender Weavers, is a stunning bamboo that is well suited to suburban backyards. This clumping bamboo is a fast grower, has strong resistance to pest and is adaptable to many soil conditions and climates.

Growing 6 - 8 meters, it is perfect for screening/privacy. Gracilis will comfortably screen out a standard double storey house next door. Alternatively, should you want a smaller height, Gracilis can be pruned in a straightforward manner to the desired height. It can also be can grown in narrow garden beds (from 500mm), if adequately maintained. Its graceful slender leaves and tall upright culms add to its appeal. Once established it is low maitenence, and it wil be kind to novice gardners.

How fast will it grow? As long as the plant has optimum growing conditions and is well maintined, there is no reason why the plant should not double in height each year (up to its maximum height).
