    Gracilis also known as Slender Weavers is well suited for suburban backyards. This popular clumping bamboo is a fast grower, adaptable to many soil conditions and is a good option for screening/privacy purposes. Gracilis can screen out a double storey house next door. If you want a smaller height, Gracilis can be pruned to the desired height. It can also be grown in narrow garden beds (from 500mm), if adequately maintained. Each plant has a typical footprint of 1m in diameter once fully established. Its graceful slender leaves, dark green foliage and tall upright culms add to its appeal.

    Goldstripe is known for its compact habitat and upright growing stems. Its distinct green and cream striped stems adds to its uniqueness. The bamboo has dark green foliage. Goldstripe is ideal for privacy heights around 4 metres. It is also a good choice for planting in narrow garden beds from 500mm. Each plant has a typical footprint of 1m in diameter once fully established.

    Himalayan Bamboo is an ornamental bamboo with a weeping growth habit and dense lush foliage. This bamboo naturally grows between 2-3 meters in height and can be easily trimmed down in height if need be. ​Himalayan Bamboo needs a shady area or filtered light to thrive. The natural footprint size of the clump is one meter, however this wonderful species can be planted into narrow garden beds or maintained smaller to suit your needs, down to a minimum of 500mm.

    Nepalese Blue bamboo is a graceful weeping bamboo variety with soft blue/grey coloured stems. It has delicate looking fine leaf foliage which grows in a vase/fan like shape. The bamboo is a great plant for filling in under story spaces. It can also be grown in narrow garden beds (from 500mm). This variety does best in part shade or dappled light. ​Once established, Nepalese Blue is low maintenance.  Also looks fantastic in pots. ​A great bamboo for the Canberra region climate as well as a more temperate Newcastle/Central coast region.

  • Chinese Dwarf (Bambusa Guangxiensis)

    • Good hedging option

    Chinese Dwarf is a good bamboo for creating a dense/bushy hedge that is well suited for privacy purposes. The plant adds a tropical effect to a garden with large, dark green foliage. The bamboo normally wants to get to 8m tall, however it can be kept to a dwarf height if trimmed. Another good options for pots.

    Commonly known as 'Al Karr',  this clumping bamboo grows into a vase-like shape.  It is another good option for privacy screening with the typical height reaching around 4 metres tall. New shoots are a lovely pink colour, which gradually change to yellow, with green stripes.

    Malay Dwarf Variegated is good bamboo options for hedging. It is densely growing, with a lime and white stripe colour foliage. It also grows particularly well in coastal areas. The hedge can be trimmed to desired height and width. This bamboo is also a good option for narrow garden beds, given its shallow root system.
